- Panier bio Composting…a great idea !
Composting decreases the production of household refuse and consequently the recourse to incineration and waste transportation; a good way of contributing to the preservation of the environment! Almost everything can be composted: vegetables peelings, garden wastes, etc. According to the Agency of the Environment and Control of Energy, the average of waste in Martinique (approximately 654 kg/hab/year) exceeds the national average: less in the North because it is a rural and not so touristy territory, and more in the South, with its huge hotels. And since an increase in the population is predicted on the island from now to 2015, the amount of waste is probably not going to diminish. Thus, from 364 302 tons of waste in 2001, the production should increase within 8 years to between 397 049 to 444 662 tons; an increase of 9 to 22 %. An excellent reason to start composting!
